Communication Studies Welcomes Dr. Kathryn Greene, 2018 Spotlight Scholar

The Department of Communication Studies is pleased to announce Dr. Kathryn Greene as its 2018 Spotlight Scholar.

Dr. Greene, an alumna of the department’s graduate program, is Professor of Communication Studies at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on health decision-making and the central role of communication in both preventing disease and injury in adolescents as well as in maintaining health and wellness in close relationships. Her guest lecture, which will take place on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 12:30 pm in Miller Learning Center room 348, will focus on two health communication interventions developed in conjunction with community groups, addressing adolescent risk-taking and patient disclosure.

In addition to presenting her research, Dr. Greene will host open office hours, providing members of the Communication Studies community an opportunity to ask questions about her areas of research, community involvement, experiences on and with job market, and so forth.

Dr. Greene’s visit is being held in conjunction with the department’s spring 2018 recruitment visit, a multi-day event designed to help prospective graduate students accepted to the department’s graduate program learn more about the program, UGA, and Athens.
