Hays Watson graduated from the University of Georgia in 2005 with degrees in both political science and speech communication. He was also a member of UGA's Honors Program during his undergraduate career at UGA.
As a member of the Georgia Debate Union, Hays was a 4-time qualifier for the NDT, a two-time octofinalist at the NDT, and a top-5 first round bid recipient to the NDT.
Hays later received his M.A. in speech communications from the University of Georgia while also serving as a graduate assistant and debate coach for the Georgia Debate Union.
He is currently working towards completion of a PhD in rhetorical studies. His dissertation identifies and analyzes presidential peace rhetoric, more specifically it seeks to interrogate how presidents argue(d) for peace during the Cold War.
