Dr. Bjørn Stillion Southard is an Assistant Professor in Communication Studies. He holds a PhD and MA from the University of Maryland. Dr. Stillion Southard is interested in early U.S. Public Address, particularly in discourses concerning race and law. He is currently working on a project related to the African colonization movement (an effort to send free blacks to a colony in Liberia). His research has appeared in Quarterly Journal of Speech, Rhetoric & Public Affairs, Argumentation and Advocacy, and elsewhere.
Dr. Stillion Southard has also published a book on delivering professional presentations (with Christine Clapp) entitled, Presenting at Work: A Guide to Public Speaking in Professional Contexts.
