Ashley Clayborn is a doctoral student in Communication Studies and Rhetoric. Ashley earned her B.A. in Psychology at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and her M.A. in Communication at the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville. Her previous work focused on public space, public memory, and political communication. Her current research interests include legal studies, history of rhetoric, and identity in the American South.
Ashley's MA Thesis, titled "The Myth of Southern Atonement: Constructed Forgiveness in Public Spaces," was awarded the top Rhetorical Thesis at the 2018 National Communication Association Convention, as well as the top thesis in the American Studies Division at the 2019 National Communication Association Convention.
