E. Michele Ramsey, a graduate of the Department of Communication Studies's doctoral program and former advisee of Dr. Bonnie Dow, has received the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender's (OSCLG) 2017 Feminist Teacher-Mentor Award. In a Penn State press release announcing the award, Ramsey, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences and Women's Studies at Penn State Berks, credits her own former faculty for exemplifying excellent instruction and mentorship. After commenting on her undergraduate teacher-mentors, Ramsey is quoted as saying, "That excellence in teaching and mentorship continued throughout graduate school and I knew that while I would always enjoy doing research as a faculty member, my heart was in undergraduate education and the opportunity to give my students the support my faculty members gave me during those very formative years of my life."
