The Georgia Debate Union competed in the District 6/SESEC Championships, where graduate students Nicholas Lepp and Cecilia Cerja both received awards recognizing their hard work and achievement with the UGA debate team. Nicholas Lepp was awarded the 2021 Matt Grindy Outstanding Graduate Student Coach award. Cecilia Cerja was named as the District 6 Graduate Student of the Year for 2021. These annual awards are intended to recognize both the pedagogical and competitive contributions to the growth and development of policy debate by graduate student coaches, who are balancing their obligations to their school work and that of their programs. Both graduate students have demonstrated excellence in their graduate and professional obligations as well as their work as coaches.
