Assistant Professor Contact Info mackensie.minniear@uga.edu Office: 605 Caldwell Hall Dr. Mackensie Minniear (Ph.D. University of Nebraska) is an assistant professor at the University of Georgia. She uses critical and intergroup theories to study how family communication shapes, dismantles, and reifies marginalized people, inspiring radical hope and creating a healthier, more tolerant world for traditionally disenfranchised families and people. Recently, her work has focused on addressing health disparities for women of color, exploring arts-based research, and ethnic-racial socialization in Black, Indigenous, and families of color. Her work can be read in the Journal of Family Communication, Communication Monographs, Race and Social Problems, Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology.
