Doctoral Student Lee Pierce Wins Prestigious Gerald R. Miller Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the National Communication Association

Lee Pierce, former doctoral student and lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Georgia, recently received the National Communication Association’s 2016 Gerald R. Miller Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award.



Given annually, the award recognizes new Communication scholars who completed outstanding dissertations during the previous academic year. Pierce was recognized for her dissertation, “Syntaxing the Nation: Temporality and Rhetoric in Contemporary U.S. Political Culture.” The Communication discipline has a long tradition of exceptional scholarship,” NCA Interim Executive Director Trevor Parry-Giles said. “We’re proud to recognize Lee Pierce’s contributions with this well-deserved award.”
