The Georgia Debate Union has started off 2018 with a bang, finishing in the top 10 of every tournament we've attended since the start of the New Year! Juniors Advait Ramanan, Swapnil Agrawal, Nathan Rice, and Johnnie Stupek tied for first-place and won the Hurricane Debates at the University of Miami for the 2nd straight year. They also each cleared to the elimination rounds at the Cal-Berkeley tournament, with Advait and Swapnil finishing tied for 9th place. Sophomore Miriam Mokhemar and freshman Andrew Gollner finished in 2nd place in the JV division at the Crowe Warken Debates held at the US Naval Academy over MLK weekend. Two teams representing the GDU finished in 4th at both the prestigious Dartmouth Round Robin and the Hochmuth Round Robin at the Universit of Pittsburgh. And the team of Alyssa Hoover and Tripp Haskins recently finished in 2nd place at the James Madison University tournament held in Harrisonburg, VA. We hope to finish the spring semester just as strongly as we've started 2018. Go Dawgs! Type of News/Audience: UGA Debate Tags: Alumni News Press Healthcare Topic
