Patricio Sanchez Mejorada Girault, a Communication Studies major planning to graduate in December 2022, has been selected as the winner of the 2021 Georgia Power Rising Star Student Scholarship! The scholarship is offered as a partnership between Georgia Power and the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Each year a student is awarded $5000 to help fund further education and pursue a career in the film industry. Patricio will be using the scholarship to support his participation in the AMPV Cannes Film Festival Student Program. Rachel Bailey, one of Patricio's instructors in our department, describes him as "highly motivated to establish and develop a career in the film industry. By producing films with more diverse characters and stories, he plans to help change negative perceptions of Hispanics in media." We congratulate Patricio Sanchez Mejorada Girault on this well-deserved award and look forward to viewing his future work in theaters.
