The Communication Studies department would like to congratulate Anastacia Janovec and Jessica Fabbricatore for their hard work and service to the department, recognizing both graduate students with the 2021 Jerold L. Hale award. Anastacia Janovec went above and beyond by providing encouragement, resources, mentorship and a strong example of perseverance to the graduate student body. Her work is especially notable amidst the constant transition of higher education during this pandemic. Jessica Fabbricatore has served at the Graduate Forum president for the past year and contributed significantly to the communication between faculty and graduate students. Her presidency began during the peak period of the pandemic, and her clear articulation of requests and opinions from the graduate student body to the faculty were invaluable. Jessica was also incredibly helpful with the new faculty hire process this past year, encouraging graduate student participation in meetings and providing the letter of recommendation based on opinions of the student body as a whole. We thank both Anastacia Janovec and Jessica Fabbricatore for their hard work in exemplifying the value of service to the communication studies discipline. Both students are fitting recipients of the award honoring Dr. Hale. The department would also like to recognize the honorable mentions for this award: Matt Farmer, Elle Johnson, Luke Christie and John Banister. Thank you for your dedication to this department!
