Teams from the Georgia Debate Union have started the 2017-18 season on a very strong note, with teams earning top 10 finishes at each of the first three tournaments, including a victory at the Vanderbilt tournament.

Kristi Schaller, Senior Lecture in the Department of Communication Studies, was honored over the summer at a lunch held in appreciation of UGA's Online Learning Faculty Fellows.
E. Michele Ramsey, a graduate of the Department of Communication Studies's doctoral program and former advisee of Dr. Bonnie Dow, has received the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender's (OSCLG) 2017 Feminist Teacher-Mentor Award.

Raka Shome, who received her PhD in Communication Studies from UGA, will receive the Charles Woolbert Award from the National Communication Association for her work in postcolonial communication and media studies.
