The Georgia Debate Union just concluded its 2016-17 season and it can be considered a huge success. In the end of the year rankings, the Georgia Debate Union finished ranked 3rd, 7th, and 8th amongst the college policy debate organization rankings.   UGA placed third in the American Debate Association varsity rankings, 7th in the National Debate Tournament varsity rankings, and 8th in the Cross Examination Debate Association rankings.…
The Georgia Debate Union emerged victorious at the Crowe-Warken Debate Tournament at the United States Naval Academy, recently held over Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in Annapolis, Maryland.   The team of Johnnie Stupek (sophomore, Sandy Springs) and Nathan Rice (sophomore, Roswell) defeated Cornell University in the finals.  Their road to first place also included wins against the University of Pittsburgh, Wake Forest University,…
The Georgia Debate Union earned first and third place at the Samford University debate tournament, which was held in Birmingham, Alabama October 14-16. Junior Katie Marshall, a Calhoun High School alumna, and first-year Genevieve Hackman, a Milton High School alumna, finished in first place with multiple victories over Emory University, the University of Florida, and Georgia State University. The University of Georgia was recently ranked as the 18th best public university in the US News and World Report's most recent rankings.  That was a 3 spot jump from the prior year.   This news comes on the heels of UGA's recent top rankings in Kiplinger's and Forbes.
